When T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia) first published his account of the Arab Revolt during World War I, he was compelled to abridge it by 1/3 of its original length. The edition he self-published in 1926 was therefore not the work he had intended. The full text, sometimes referred to as the 1922 Edition, was never published until 1997, when it was published by Castle Hill Press in the UK, by subscription.Castle Hill Press is a private firm operated by Jeremy Wilson, author of the 1989 Authorized Biography of Lawrence. The Castle Hill subscribers edition, limited to 750 numbered copies, is out of print. The set for sale here is one of those numbered copies, in absolutely mint, as-new condition. There are three slipcased volumes, two containing the full 1922 text and footnoted extensively, with full index. The third volume contains full-color reproductions of portraits, commisioned by Lawrence, of major figures mentioned in the text, but printed in black and white in previous editions. The volumes are oversized, approximately 12 inches in height, printed on acid-free paper. All three volumes are as-new and the slipcase intact.
