For sale here is a near-mint condition Sony KD-34XS955 from 2005. This is literally the 3rd best TV EVER made, right behind the Sony XBR960 and XBR910. It absolutely trumps all LCDs and Plasmas, guaranteed.
This TV has a screen resolution of 1440x1080, much higher than the standard CRT HDTV resolution of 853x1080, and 50% higher than a 720p LCD(1280x720). This is achieved with Sony's Super Fine Pitch aperture grille.
More importantly, this TV also features an astronomical contrast ratio of over 100,000:1! 5x higher than the best Pioneer plasma currently in stores. So what does this mean for you? It means that colors and bright lights practically pop off the screen because the range of light is so large. It also makes every detail much easier to see and is far more important than the actual screen resolution itself.
