Starting salary: $3013.00/month Pipe Mechanical Trades perform shift work, subject to 24 hours a day, 7 day a week operations. Operate, monitor, service and/or repair systems components for all UCD campus buildings; respond to emergency calls pertaining to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and utility system failures and interruptions. Perform minor building preventive maintenance and repairs for building occupants and record issues in the shift log book through shift desk computer. Repair public lighting, exit lights, battery operated lights, drinking fountains, eyewash/dump showers, and maintain and operate flood response carts. Provide support to the Central Utility Plant for routine maintenance and repairs, preventive maintenance, and emergencies as required. Perform related work as assigned or required. Conditions of Employment: - Must possess and maintain a current valid State of Colorado Driver's License at time of hire. - Must have a good driving record. - Must agree to and pass a criminal background check and drug test. - Must be willing and able to stand, walk, sit and reach above shoulder on a frequent basis. - Must be willing and able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. - Must be able to work out of doors in all weather conditions including snow, rain, heat, cold. - Must be able to operate moving equipment and work around machinery or moving equipment. - Must be able to work around noise/vibrations. - Must be willing and able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, weekends and holidays. - Must be willing and able to communicate clearly and concisely on phone and two way radio in an emergency situation. This position has been designated as essential personnel. This position will be required to be on duty to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption during campus closures. Minimum Qualifications: Two years of progressively responsible construction or maintenance plumbing, pipefitting, steamfitting, and/or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning experience. Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting, steamfitting, or HVAC apprenticeship program may be substituted for the required experience.
