Job Description The Hardware Product Manager (HPM) will be responsible for all aspects of the product management domain for Tendril¡¦s hardware product line including product planning and specification, product marketing, working closely with Product and Marketing leadership to establish an industry-leading vision, dynamic design and aggressive roadmap for our next generation Energy Management System.This includes requirements gathering and definition, product requirements documentation, user story and use case development, on-going prioritization, market delivery, market messaging and launch, market support and iterative improvements to the product roadmap. The HPM must display a technical proficiency with hardware product development and hardware product lifecycle management, for products in complex distributed networking and/or wireless environments.Ideally, the HPM will have experience in defining and developing consumer hardware products, including consumer-oriented human interfaces and industrial design. The HPM must develop and maintain a high level of rapport with the engineering team, sales force, and other team members, and must work closely with engineering project management and software product management.The HPM will work closely with Tendril ODMs, CMs, and other partners to deliver on the hardware roadmap.The HPM is ultimately measured on the timely delivery of product, product sales growth percentages and gross margin(s).The HPM reports to the Director of Hardware Products. Job Responsibilities 1. Work closely with Product and Marketing leadership to establish the product vision, dynamic design and aggressive product roadmap that will deliver against customer and corporate milestones, with clear objectives for product evolution. 2. Create and document clear product requirements which elaborate on high-level feature and functionality requirements ¡V from both customer and industry perspective ¡V providing Tendril engineering, ODMs, and CMs a prioritized feature set for development and implementation. 3. Customer Advocate -- Ensure that user expectations and needs are understood, communicated, managed and ultimately met through the product evolution. 4. Provide expertise in competitive product evaluation and competitive differentiation including packaging, pricing and product definition.Gather market intelligence as to market need and translate into product capabilities, features and pricing recommendations. 5. For Tendril¡¦s hardware products, support product launches by creating product messaging consistent with corporate positioning, providing content for MarComm materials such as datasheets and webpages, support outbound marketing efforts such as tradeshows, sales calls, and demos, and provide definition of and outlines for product training for both internal and external users. Job Qualifications The candidate will possess: ƒæ At least 5 years in a hardware product management position including networked and or wireless products. ƒæ An engineering background (at least a BS, if not an MS, in an engineering discipline. EE, CS or equivalent preferred). ƒæ At least 7 years of experience in the business/working world. The candidate will ideally possess: ƒæ Two or more years working with consumer-oriented hardware products. ƒæ Experience with ¡§systems-level¡¨ products: integrated hardware, software, and network environments ƒæ An MBA. ƒæ Experience with wireless and/or ZigBee technology. ƒæ Experience and comfort with startup environment.
