WadiRum, an indie-acoutsi-rock outfit, is looking for a new female harmony vocalist.
We are a 5 piece band: two singers (male/female), guitar, cello, bass, and drums.While we are at this point strictly a local band, we are all serious musicians and dedicated to excellent writing and performing.We play about twice a month and rehearse once a week.We have a lot of fun, but we also work hard to play the very best performances that we have inside of us.
Our female singer is moving away in August, and we a very sad that we will have to find a replacement.She is first-rate and very pro.
The singer who can fill these big shoes would possess an advanced ear for harmonies, pretty close to perfect pitch, a large vocal range, and the ability to be very dynamic, moving from aggressive and loud to whisper- intimate sometimes in the same composition.
The ideal person would also be able to rip on an instrument. Violin would be nice.
We have lots of songs, and almost all of them have big slots for harmony.While this is not a songwriting position, there is still a lot of room for creative input in terms of the vocal parts, especially on songs that have not yet been recorded.For the songs we have already released on our two cds, we would ask that the new singer learn the existing harmony parts, or at least stay within the ballpark of the existing harmony structure.
What we want to do is start looking for someone now, and then once we find a good fit, ask the person to essentially “intern” under our current vocalist, perhaps coming to rehearsals and shows, and learn all of the material.When our vocalist leaves in August, we want to be able to continue to gig regularly and not miss a beat.
