A nationally recognized Investment Firm is currently looking for a Paralegal to join their growing team. The selected individual will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, negotiating, revising and executing contracts with outside vendors. Communicates contractual rights and obligations and provides clarification of contract terms and conditions to business clients. Responsible for providing paralegal support and assisting attorneys and senior level staff with special projects. Assists in maintaining contract records and databases. May provide guidance and direction to more junior staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Applies knowledge and corporate policies while reviewing, analyzing, negotiating, revising and executing contracts in order to minimize financial and legal risk to the company. Effectively identifies legal issues and clearly conveys those issues to business clients. Provides active, creative and business-oriented solutions. Works closely with teams and business clients. Ensures accuracy of agreements, modifications, amendments, renewals and extensions. Prepares and drafts other legal and business communications as required. Executes policies and procedures that control, centralize, and streamline the contracting process. Executes contract processing, including summarizing and tracking key contract terms, and performing contract follow- up activities as required. Ensure accuracy of contract database and effective tracking and administration of key contract dates and requirements. Researches a variety of contract and business issues that may be complex in nature, and provides business clients with relevant information to aid in the decision making process. Help identify and produce relevant documents for regulatory purposes. Assists in organizing and maintaining all contract files. Provides moderately complex paralegal support for the department as needed. May provide guidance and direction to more junior staff. Requirements The selected individual will possess the following qualifications: Strong problem solving skills Demonstrated familiarity with legal concepts such as intellectual property rights, limitation of liability, indemnification, warranties, confidentiality, etc. Understanding of licensing, marketing, purchasing and various service agreements helpful. Strong problem solving skills Ability to draft initial or alternative contract language and effectively negotiate modifications to standard contractual provisions with vendors and business clients preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent analytical and research skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Business Objects and experience with contract management systems or databases a plus. Ability to work with little supervision Ability to maintain confidentiality Minimum experience and education is as follows: 0 2 years Paralegal experience or equivalent. Contract drafting and/or negotiations experience a plus. Experience in the mutual fund/financial services or information technology industries a plus Bachelors degree or equivalent required Paralegal certificate or other legal training experience preferred Some formal training in negotiation techniques preferred This is a contract to hire position paying up to $50,000 annually.
