Our Area HR Manager position is a "true generalist" role in every sense. The person hired will be be responsible for employee relations, training and professional development, performance management, safety, recruiting, payroll, and all other functional areas. Required Skills Bachelor's degree (B. A.) required, Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of HR experience in a multi-unit and multi-state environment (minimum of 30 locations and 750 employees). Position will oversee 110 locations and 1,200 employees. 5+ years in an HR Management/Supervisory capacity. Strong influence and relationship building skills. Previous union/union avoidance experience required. PHR/SPHR certification preferred. A.Education: Bachelors Degree preferred (Life Sciences or Business Administration) or equivalent experience. B. Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a consumer service call center environment or consumer service function. C. Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Scotts, Miracle-Gro, Ortho and Roundup products, their intended use and expected results. Basic understanding of the psychology of how to handle consumers who are extremely emotional and irate and be able to guide others in the proper use of these skills. Agronomic background preferred. D. Skills and Abilities: Able to speak and write the English language proficiently. Able to speak and write the French language proficiently. Strong written and oral communications skills are necessary. Effective listening and negotiation skills needed. Ability to pursue a practical solution, while emphasizing excellence in quality standards. Able to work varied schedules if necessary, including evenings and weekends. Able to key data, visually process CRT screens frequently, sit for periods of up to 2 hours at a time and able to travel occasionally.
